Bill Finger
Paramnesia

Paramnesia explores the essence of liminal spaces – those transitional zones where time seems to warp and reality blurs. By constructing and photographing miniature dioramas of these in-between places, Bill seeks to evoke their stillness and potential for transformation. The images invite the viewer to step into these suspended realities, to experience the distortion of time and beauty found within uncertain transitions.

A former member of PUNCH Gallery in its Pioneer Square heyday, Bill Finger now calls Maine home. Bill is an artist and educator whose work combines sculpture and photography. Handcrafting each element, he constructs and then photographs miniature dioramas. Each image is imbued with a sense of cinematic narrative that reflects a past career working on film sets. By mimicking the filmmaking process he is able to create a miniature construction of a constructed reality.

Bill has exhibited his photographs in both the US and Canada. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Art, Houston and the George Eastman Museum of Photography. Bill holds a MFA in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Film Production at Husson University in Bangor, Maine.

In addition to Paramnesia, we’re featuring the jewelry of Selena Salmon as well as Maria Cristalli’s forged ironwork in our retail space this July.
